AMTD joins hands with Xiaomi, Singapore Management University and National University of Singapore School of Systems Science to launch Digital Finance Leadership Program

Approved by the Ministry of Education of Singapore, the Digital Finance Leadership Program jointly initiated by AMTD, Xiaomi, Singapore Management University and National University of Singapore School of Systems Science will provide in-depth digital business transformation and financial perspectives for Singapore and the entire ASEAN region, and cultivate a new generation of digital finance leaders.

Recently, AMTD took the lead in jointly launching the "AMTD-Xiaomi-Singapore Management University-National University of Singapore School of Systems Science Digital Finance Leadership Program" ("AXSI Project") with Xiaomi, Singapore Management University (SMU) and National University of Singapore School of Systems Science (NUS-ISS). Calvin Choi, Chairman and President of AMTD Group and Founder of AMTD Charity Foundation, Zhou Shouzi, Senior Vice President and President of International Department of Xiaomi Group, Professor Lily Chiang, President of Singapore Management University and Vice President Yinnie Koh, Professor Eng Chye Tan, President of National University of Singapore and Khoong Chan Meng, CEO of National University of Singapore School of Systems Science, attended the cloud signing ceremony. The AXIS program aims to strengthen Singapore’s leading position as a fintech and innovation hub by enhancing the knowledge and capabilities of senior financial and regulatory leaders and Asian fintech entrepreneurs in digital business transformation and digital finance, helping them use digital financial solutions and services to drive business success.

The AXSI program will fully leverage the strengths of four partners: AMTD’s leadership and resource network in digital financial services and AMTD SpiderNet; Xiaomi’s deep experience in digital technology services, consumer IoT and innovation; Singapore Management University’s expertise in digital finance, law and government governance and its excellent track record in building leadership programs; and the School of Systems Science at the National University of Singapore’s expertise in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.

In addition to the 5-day senior management program in Singapore, participants in the AXSI program will also participate in study tours hosted by AMTD and Xiaomi in Hong Kong and Beijing respectively. They will be able to gain first-hand information and forward-looking views on fintech developments in both companies and the rich opportunities offered by the two cities. In Singapore, the program includes cutting-edge content on Asia’s new financial ecosystem, financial innovation, sustainable and green finance, fintech solutions and cybersecurity. In addition to topics related to fintech, participants will learn and share discussions and practices on many major global issues in the "post-epidemic" era, including how to become a responsible and flexible leader.

Participants, including regulators, company leaders and fintech entrepreneurs from different fields of the fintech ecosystem in the Greater Bay Area, Southeast Asia and other parts of Asia, will learn and communicate with policymakers, scholars and industry experts in the project. Interactions with practitioners from all over the world can broaden participants' horizons and see existing and emerging opportunities and challenges in these rapidly developing regions. Through joint learning, participants will join a powerful shared platform to promote collaboration and development in the field of digital finance.

AMTD and Xiaomi Finance will donate a total of S$5 million to support the AXSI project. This donation will be used to help the Singapore Management University and the School of Systems Science of the National University of Singapore to establish relevant curriculum systems and teaching resources, as well as to support the costs of organizing and managing this project. Part of it will also be used as scholarships to attract more outstanding participants from the public sector to join this project.

The AXSI project will be held twice a year, and the first batch of participants will be welcomed in November this year. There will be no more than 25 participants in each round. The first round of the project will start at the same time as the Singapore Fintech Festival, which will bring insights from global thought leaders, showcase innovative solutions, and include global entrepreneurs, investors and innovators. Participants in the first round of the AXSI project will be invited to participate in the Fintech Festival.
