AMTD Foundation | AMTD supports the 2020 "Caritas Warms Hearts" Charity Gala to be successfully held, supporting Caritas' charitable work for 13 consecutive years
Recently, the annual charity fundraising gala "Caritas Warms Hearts", which AMTD Foundation has supported for 13 consecutive years and hosted by Caritas Hong Kong, was grandly held at the TVB City in Tseung Kwan O. Dr. Timothy Tong, JP, President of AMTD Foundation, Mr. Sin Yat-kin, SBS, Chief of Staff of AMTD and Prime Minister of AMTD Foundation, and Mr. Lo Chi-hang, Vice President of AMTD Group, led the AMTD team to attend the event as representatives to support charity work in person. During the gala, kind-hearted people from all walks of life generously donated money by calling the charity donation hotline exclusively supported by AMTD Foundation, and love spread throughout Hong Kong.
Caritas is one of the largest non-profit organizations in Hong Kong. It was founded by the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong in 1953. Caritas aims to provide relief and rehabilitation services to the poor. The scope of services is wide, mainly including social work, education, medical care, community development and hotel and catering services. As an organization providing diversified social services, Caritas, in the spirit of "serving with love and creating hope", provides various people-oriented quality services and launches a number of pioneering projects, especially caring for the most helpless, the most humble and the most lost in society, helping them live a rich life. The "Caritas Warms the Hearts" TV fundraising program is a grand annual charity event in Hong Kong. By inviting well-known Hong Kong performing arts and caring people in the society to perform on the same stage, it encourages the public to donate money to support Caritas' various community services and benefit more vulnerable communities. The program attracts millions of individuals and more than 300,000 family viewers every year. In the past 11 years, more than tens of millions of funds have been raised, providing assistance to more than 15,000 elderly people, 10,000 families, 8,000 mentally handicapped people and 6,300 young people every year.

AMTD Group adheres to the charitable spirit of "grateful to the society and serving the public welfare" and continues to practice corporate social responsibility from different aspects. Therefore, Calvin Choi, Chairman and President of AMTD Group, initiated the establishment of AMTD Charity Foundation, which aims to help the poor and support education, and support the disadvantaged groups in Hong Kong and around the world.
AMTD has been actively supporting various charitable activities and serving the public welfare, including co-hosting the "Caritas Warms Thousands of Hearts" charity gala with Caritas Hong Kong, the largest public welfare charity in Hong Kong, for thirteen consecutive years, and fully supporting the research activities of the "AIDS Research Foundation", the world's largest AIDS research organization. In addition, the AMTD Foundation is also committed to promoting technological development and supporting talent cultivation. It has launched the "Singapore Digital Finance Leadership Program" with Xiaomi, Singapore Management University and National University of Singapore; cooperated with the University of Waterloo in Canada to establish the "AMTD Innovation Center" and jointly launched the "Global Talent Cultivation Postdoctoral Workstation"; and co-founded the "AMTD Fintech Center of the School of Business of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University" with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
In April 2020, AMTD and the ASEAN Financial Innovation Network jointly launched the "AMTD ASEAN-Solidarity Fund" with a total amount of S$50 million, and recently announced the first round of investment. In May 2020, AMTD, together with the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Singapore Fintech Association (SFA), jointly announced the launch of the S$6 million MAS-SFA-AMTD FinTechSolidarity Grant to support Singaporean fintech companies facing challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since 2008, AMTD has worked with Caritas for 13 consecutive years to gather strength from all walks of life and spread love to the public. This year, the AMTD Foundation has arranged dozens of donation hotlines to encourage people from all walks of life to donate and call to support. AMTD employees and Caritas have been in close communication and cooperation for several months before the gala to ensure that the donation hotline operates smoothly on the night of the charity gala, so that people from all walks of life can donate through the hotline to benefit those in need. AMTD employee representatives also provided support and assistance at the hotline center of the gala to spread love together.
