Congratulations on the first anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Restart Alliance

A few days ago, the Hong Kong Restart Alliance was established for one year. A press conference on "Integration into the National Development Situation" was held at the Central Plaza in Hong Kong. A series of activities were announced to promote Hong Kong's full integration into the national development situation, and the key tasks of the "Alliance" were introduced to promote cooperation between Hong Kong and cities in the Greater Bay Area and implement the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The Hong Kong Restart Alliance was established in May 2020 by Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Tung Chee-hwa and Leung Chun-ying as the general conveners, and member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Tam Yiu-chung as the secretary-general. Deputy Director of the Hong Kong Basic Law Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Tam Wai-chu, National People's Congress representative and Chairman of the Hong Kong Youth Army Association Chen Zhenbin, etc. served as deputy secretaries-general. Cai Zhijian, the special vice president of the China Young Entrepreneurs Association and honorary president of the Hong Kong Youth Army Association, together with more than 1,500 people from all walks of life in Hong Kong, served as co-sponsors to build consensus and find a way out for Hong Kong.

In his speech at the press conference, the general convener Tung Chee-hwa affirmed the work of the Grand Alliance in the past year, and sent a message to all sectors of Hong Kong to work together and unite, calling on people from all walks of life to get vaccinated as soon as possible, do a good job in epidemic prevention and control, and strive for early customs clearance. He also asked the co-sponsors to lead Hong Kong to integrate into the overall national development and set off for the Greater Bay Area! "The world is changing, and China is standing up." Tung Chee-hwa emphasized: "We must not be proud, because there is still a lot of work to do. The country will get better and better, Hong Kong has a good development, and the Grand Alliance can also do better and better."

In his speech, the general convener Leung Chun-ying pointed out that the country's development is advancing by leaps and bounds. If Hong Kong wants to take advantage of the wind, it must give full play to its advantages and actively integrate into the overall national development. The country's "14th Five-Year Plan" is both an opportunity for Hong Kong's future development and a requirement and guide. He also introduced the Grand Alliance's future key work-the "Setting Out for the Greater Bay Area Series" project, in which 11 deputy secretaries-general will contact and cooperate with the "9+2" cities in the Greater Bay Area and implement the docking with the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. He stressed that Hong Kong is now in a better position to start again than a year ago. "Hong Kong Starts Again" is not a slogan, but a goal that must be achieved.

Tam Yiu-chung, Secretary-General of the Alliance, reviewed the work carried out by the Alliance in the past year in epidemic prevention and control, economic livelihood, youth employment, legal education and other aspects, and said that the Alliance will continue to work hard to contribute to the prosperity and stability of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the prosperity and strength of the country through the collective efforts of more than 1,500 co-sponsors and people from all walks of life.

It has been one year since the establishment of the Alliance for Hong Kong's Start Again. The overall situation in Hong Kong has changed fundamentally in the past year. There is no more black violence, and the society has restored the rule of law and order; the epidemic is under control and gradually out of the predicament; the economy has recovered and the pace of integration into the national development has accelerated. The strong leadership and strong support of the central government are the most fundamental reasons for this series of gratifying changes from chaos to order. The "Grand Alliance" has done a lot of work in the past year, from organizing activities to support the implementation of national security, to launching the "Ten Million Masks to Show Love", "Promoting Consumption to Support the Economy" and "Consolation to the Mainland Testing Support Team" actions, to various seminars, exchanges, internship programs related to innovation and technology, youth, and the development of the Greater Bay Area, etc., uniting all sectors and gathering people's hearts, and also played a positive role in boosting.

Looking forward to the next year, the Grand Alliance will focus on five key tasks. First, sing "One Country, Two Systems". Organize a series of forums on "Adhering to 'One Country, Two Systems' and Hong Kong Restarting". Second, promote Hong Kong to accelerate its integration into the overall national development and implement the "Departure to the Greater Bay Area" plan.
