We warmly welcome three new AMTD Scholars. Four of them were selected as postdoctoral scholars last year through the AMTD-Waterloo Global Talent Postdoctoral Scholars Program. The AMTD Scholars Program offers an annual salary of $75,000 plus a $7,500 grant. The program was established through a generous donation from the AMTD Charitable Foundation, founded by Dr. Calvin Choi, an alumnus of the University of Waterloo.
“The University of Waterloo is very proud to have established the AMTD Scholars Program. For the second consecutive year, the AMTD Scholarship Program attracted an excellent group of applicants, and this announcement has seen the selection of three outstanding scholars. We look forward to watching these two cohorts continue to advance the program and increase its global impact,” said Jeff Casello, Vice President of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs .
He continued, “Looking ahead, we are excited to announce that next year’s program will grow in both number and inclusivity. Dr. Tsai will once again support Black and Indigenous scholars by funding additional postdoctoral fellowships through the AMTD Charitable Foundation, demonstrating his commitment to the University and our shared goals of advancing equity and diversity. We thank Dr. Tsai for his generosity and recognize that this contribution accelerates Waterloo’s important work to end systemic racism and promote a culture of universal peace and coexistence.”
Dr. Calvin Choi, founder and donor of the program, said, “I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to the awardees this time. Together with me, Waterloo and AMTD, they will inject strength into the common and diverse development of mankind and contribute to the sustainable development of the world.”
